1. If you desire to raise funds for the 2010 NLSC, the time to start fundraising is NOW. You can obtain a list of local CLS attorneys through our website, by logging onto the member directory and searching for attorneys in your geographical area. If you are unsure of your password please contact the LSM office at (703) 642-1070 ext. 3303. NOTE: The model letter indicates that a self-addressed envelope is included with your mailing. Remember to include the envelope! 

2. You can also obtain a list of the alumni from your school who are currently members of CLS. The chapter contact (the person designated as the “key contact” with us) can obtain this list by making a written request to the LSM office via email or through our website database. Address inquiries to lsm@clsnet.org. 

3. Feel free to send letters to other attorneys in your area or to alumni of your school who you may know. If you choose to write your own letter, it MUST include the following information: 1) make checks payable to Christian Legal Society; 2) to be eligible to be treated as a charitable deduction, checks may not have the student’s name on them; but rather the name of the law school must be annotated in the memo section of the check; 3) ALL checks should be returned to you, not to CLS or LSM directly; and 4) inform the donor that you will forward his/her check to LSM which in turn will assure that the information is entered into the CLS donor base and that a charitable receipt is issued.  Though this sounds like a huge hassle and time consuming to you – CLS must do this for proper reporting and recording of all funds raised and taken in by the national organization.
   
   

4. When you arrive at the conference and after you register, you will receive a reimbursement check for any funds you have raised up to but not exceeding the documented cost of your travel, lodging and registration. You will not receive any funds above documented costs for the conference. If you raise more than your documented costs, the excess funds will be available to other students from your school who register and attend the conference or the funds will be held at CLS for your school to send representatives to the 2010 CLS National Conference.

5.  You will have until October 31, 2010, to submit all funds you have raised for the 2010 NLSC and documentation for reimbursement of expenses. Donations and requests for reimbursement for the 2010 NLSC will not be accepted after October 31, 2010; however, funds will be accepted for the 2010 NLSC.
