Special Guests:

Kristen WaggonerKristen Waggoner, Senior Counsel at Alliance Defending Freedom

Kristen was clearly called to her work in the law.  After graduating from Northwest College and Regent Law School (she was a student of Mike Schutt’s), and clerking for Justice Richard B. Sanders of the Washington Supreme Court, Kristen entered private practice at Ellis, Li & McKinstry PLLC.  She worked in a variety of areas, including constitutional, employment, nonprofit, and family law.  She felt a special calling to the constitutional and religious liberty cases, and handled many, addressing issues such as the definition of marriage, and right of conscience.  After 16 years at Ellis, Li & McKinstry, Kristen recently transitioned to Senior Counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom where she now works exclusively on religious liberty cases.  She continues to serve as “of counsel” at Ellis, Li & McKinstry.  Full Bio >>

Mike SchuttMike Schutt, Director of Law Student Ministries at Christian Legal Society

Also joining us this year will be our friend and NW Retreat veteran, CLS's Law Student Ministries Director, Mike Schutt.  Mike also serves as law professor for Regent University and is the author of Redeeming Law: Christian Calling and the Legal Profession. Among law students, Mike is probably best loved for his blog, Redeeming Law, and the Christian legal resource website, Cross and Gavel.
